Some images from the last week of work. Finishing touches, lettering, and two coats of a clear sealer went on the 5 smaller panels last week. This week I'll be lettering the big guy and getting him finished... And then all the panels will get two coats of a solvent-based sealer as the final step. The end is in sight!
And thanks to everyone that popped in for my little 'open house' on Saturday- it was great to hear the positive feedback!
Sara and I took a short field trip this week to go look at the actual fountain in Clemens Gardens that we've been painting-- it was great to see the real thing! And great to see that the painted version is a pretty effective likeness...
As you can see from the photos below most of the panels are about 3/4 complete at the end of week two. As Sara leaves for her next gig, this coming week I'll begin the lettering and any finishing touches.
I had a question recently about how I was mixing the paint-- did I order specific colors or mix them myself? It's been a combination of both-- the final picture in this group is of my swatch board- some 26 individual colors that I purchased in either gallons or quarts. As the paintings come together I've been tweaking the colors as I've seen fit- making them more neutral, pushing them a bit to blue or red, etc; you never really know until you actually get some on the panel.
